With this firewall you can have the best possible access to your p2p program you uses. Once you pass lock the app then it will do the rest. Listen and out the ports needed. When your done it will close them up. Other than that it's spyware and popup stopper does work where IE fails to do..

I must have at least 10 different passwords for 10 different web sites and who can remember which goes with which. This program takes care of all of that nonsense by saving all of your passwords in one file. It also will automatically enter your credit card information as well as shipping and billing addresses, saving you loads of time. What a great idea and execution. Thanks!

Like the other reviewer, I too am very satisfied with Iolo firewall. Unlike other firewalls, I have no problem accessing the internet or playing MMORPGs. I have not gone looking for viruses, but the few that have found me have been blocked by iolo. A good alternative to the big name firewalls and AV programs.

While "parental controls" in a product name typically suggests home use, the comprehensive and flexible CyberPatrol Parental Controls 7.7 ($39.95 per year direct) is equally suited for schools, libraries, or workplace settings. It even includes configuration themes for those specific environments. CyberPatrol blocks inappropriate Web sites, schedules Internet access, controls programs, filters objectionable words from instant messages, and monitors Web-surfing activity. And it's good at what it does. About the only significant features it lacks are in the remote notification and management area.

Tried the parental controls in Vista and my security suite but they didn't have all the features I was looking for. Decided to try Cyberpatrol based on good reviews I had seen. Has everything I wanted and more. I have kids ages 8, 13, 16 and they all use the same computer. Best thing is that I can set different filtering rules for each of the kids. Doesn't just block bad websites, also lets you set time limits, keep track of where they've been going on the `net, even block them from sending out personal info. Easy to use especially if you just want to use the default settings, just install and go, but lots of ability to configure it the way you want.

My granddaughter recently came to live with me and she likes to use my computer. I know just enough about the Internet to know there are things she shouldn't see and places she shouldn't go online. Older versions seemed to supply some unobtrusive if incomplete control over my curious family's net access. Unsure whether the new version will be as straightforward to use, the disruptive 'upgrade' process doesn't give confidence.

I was 'forced' to upgrade to 7.7 because they are not upgrading the old code base, and this new version they are marketing 'rebuilt from the ground up' which should be a red flag. Looks like I need to downgrade to 7.6 or try a different product. Tech support was also wrong about the behavior of 7.7. So reading the previous reviews of CyberPatrol is a good idea, however they all relate to versions before 7.7. The main issue is mentioned above--many sites produce long URL 'strings' after the domain name with gobbledy **** that make them work, just about every site other than the most basic. If an allowed keyword is in that string, then it still will be blocked if there is a disallowed keyword within that allowed keyword. As a result, any word that's ok (such as posture for example) within one of these long strings will actually make the web site be blocked if you have a keyword of pos. (pos is a bad example, imagine more realistic keywords here). This did not occur in the previous version, for obvious reasons.

This product ended up on my machine - presumably as a byproduct of installing a game for my 6-year old son. I did not intend to download it, but there it was. The process to uninstall lacked grace, to say the least. No entry in Add/Remove Control Panel to remove it. Fortunately (?) stumbled across instructions telling me not to delete files. I followed stated procedure to right click and uninstall - ignore that dialog that appears commenting on WinSock apps running. But the app did not uninstall and this is where the story really begins. Called customer support - where I found the instructions for uninstalling to be a primary feature. There is no apparent way to actually talk with a support person. It kept referring me to their website. Of course, had I not had a second computer to get to the Internet, this referral would have been useless. It also said, given the situation, some kind of corruption was likely - I needed to reinstall CyberPatrol again to remove the corruption and then try re-uninstalling. Well, this is also of little value when you cannot get to the Internet to reinstall. But I did manage to get around their software and access their website. Downloaded the latest version of the software, as instructed, but when attempting to install it, it said it could not install because an older version of it was detected on my machine. This has been a particularly annoying encounter with customer support.

It's nice to see all of these features, but it's not very intuitive to manage. I tried ContentProtect which has all the same features but is easier to use.

Highly configurable and does a very good job blocking without making browsing the internet impossible! I think it's the best of the 4 top brands!Slowed down browsing speed a little bit, but still very acceptable.

I absolutely have to have this software in stealth mode. Would prefer other users not know it's there, unless it blocks. Instead, it puts some nasty logon script in the middle of the window after every user login. What a pain. I exchanged a few emails with the support staff. No help there, although they were polite. I uninstalled and went looking for something else.

I have used CyberPatrol for 2 years now. This program is wonderful. I have recently looked around at the "newer" versions they have out and tried their trial version. All seemed okay but cost a little more to purchase than CyberPatrol. It is very easy to set up and goes to work for you right away.

I have been using the Home version of Avast for the past month and have come to appreciate its unobtrusive, rapid, thorough performance. Equally helpful has been the personal attention I received from their security software expert. My PC had been taken over by a virus that had fouled up its operation and managed to block access to downloads from security software sites I tried. Or when I managed to download some antivirus program, it would not install correctly. The Avast expert sent me a handy tool (Hijack This) from another company that spotted the infected files and removed them. He also offered to investigate the log and advised me. Now the PC is totally clean and protected by Avast--all at no cost whatsoever for the Home edition. I must assume that the avast! Professional Edition has even more to offer. Hard to beat the combination of a quality product and service beyond the call of duty.

Easily installed, and full featured under Windows XP x64. Purchased as a temporary measure until our IT people have something to recommend. Our standard issue is the corporate version of Symantec AV, but under 64 bit Windows, it only offers a small subset of features.
One quirk is that you cannot teach it to recognize non-standard file extensions. Every time I go to edit a script file with the extension .prg, I have to open it through a dialog box that offers warnings about the unknown file-type.

Norton Ghost 14 is a great backup tool that offers lots of potential for scheduling different types (files or full system; local or off-site) of automated backups. It is simple to use, yet offers every conceivable option one could need. As a bonus, it offers its famous 'ghosting' ability to copy full hard drives accross, e.g. when moving to a new PC or upgrading a hard drive. An older Ghost saved me from the effects of a complete HDD crash, and since then I am hooked on Ghost. V14 is the same good product, but even better. GET IT, or face the consequences one day!

Norton Ghost 14.0 was very easy to install and perform a image backup with. I picked Norton Ghost because of years of flawless performance from the product. Many backup programs make back up files, but recovery is some times a mistery. Not with Norton Ghost.

I bought Norton Ghost 14 to use to migrate my Thinkpad T60 to a larger hard drive. I spent all day trying, only to learn that this product won't do that! I ended up just downloading a free product, HDClone, and it worked perfectly. If you want to do routine backups, you can buy Ghost. If you need to clone a hard-drive with hidden partitions, look elsewhere.

This product failed miserably when installed on my PC running XP Pro. Running LiveUpdate failed and caused the program to stop running (I had to repair the installation using the install disk). Once "running", an attempt to back up my hard drive to a DVD-ROM set also failed. Needless to say I'm returning the product and will look for another backup program.

Benn using Norton Ghost for many years. It has rescued me form many a bad download and also after making an application change or a file update that brought my computer just about to its knees. Its always running and takes very little time to run in the avent that a critical flaw or bad download had altered a bit too much and stopped a normal POST or boot function. In my case it saved a bunhl of reloads.

I've been a Norton user for more than 10 years and had never experienced any issues other users reported until I came across Ghost 14. I upgraded from Ghost 12 to Ghost 14 six months ago and had been doing a drive backup every two weeks. Recently my laptop was stolen and when I try to do a restore, I found out certain files were missing from the every archive Ghost 14 created!!! During each backup session, Ghost 14 never gave any indication that some files were not backed up. Luckily the missing files were rarely changed and I was able to restore from the last Ghost 12 archive. Because of this, all my Ghost 14 backups made during the past six months are now questionable. I've no idea what other files Ghost 14 failed to include in the archive.

Norton Ghost 10.0 worked great...The new Norton Ghost 14.0 works really good too..When deleting the old ghost..do not forget liveupdate..I like to custom install ghost...I make independent ghost images...I backup to a large 500 GB external hard drive...Norton Ghost works great..I like to make independent ghost images and not incremental ghost images..I have Windows XP....and backup to a 500 GB external hard drive..I had trouble getting the external hard drive ready for the new software and had to partition and format the external hard drive..I had trouble..After partitioning and formating the external hard drive...everything turned out really great...I had been using two external hard drives to make backup images..Now I just use my 500 GB external hard drive..Norton Ghost 14.0 works great...

If your backup catalog is either locked or corrupt, there is no option but to perform a complete backup again. Symantec does not provide a tool to rebuild the catelog from a good backup that you have already created. Do not waste your time with this software. Purchase something where the backup and controls are in the backup device itself as anything that installs on your computer is at risk due to either Symantec software bugs or Microsoft software bugs.

I've used this product since it was Drive Image from PowerQuest. Beginning At Version 9, Symantec bought up the Drive Image code and repackaged as Ghost. The product is mature and works perfectly for me every time. Importantly, it is also useful for people who are blind and use screen readers to access Windows. I tried True Image 2009 from another manufacturer for it's claims of easy use but that product failed with my screen reader while Ghost worked well with the JAWS screen reader. I purchased this new version moving up from V9 to backup a VISTA computer which was not supported by my earlier version. The product has become even smarter and more smoothly integrated into the computer. Be sure to run the updater after installing as Symantec seems to make regular improvements to the code base

I've used Ghost for a few years. It usually works fine. I use off the shelf PCs and do not have any trouble restoring (luckily only once in all this time). Recently, I added Network Attached Storage (NAS) to my home network. Ghost 10 and 12 worked for a while then had problems doing incremental backups. This newest rev seems to have solved whatever the issues were as I have been doing incremental backups fine for a few months now.

First of all not everybody knows what Norton ghost 14 really does and how it works. Norton ghost is developed by symantec. Symentec is a corparation who developed some software like Norton Antivirus or backups. Norton Ghost is one of the famoust backup programs. Symantec Ghost 14 seems to be a merge of features between Symantec's older Ghost product line with Symantec's disastrous "save and restore" product, which for some strange reason is still offered in version 2.0.You can see my reviews for Save and restore here on amazon to see why my copy ended up in the garbage can.I have been using ghost in its various incarnations for several years, when it used to run off a floppy drive, so i am very familiar with its capabilities. Symantec Ghost 14 can backup files or your entire computer's drives if so desired to another computer on a network or to a USB drive. It can do this on a schedule.The features of Ghost 14 on paper are impressive, so i decided to give it a test by installing the product on my laptop and creating a complete backup to a network drive on another computer. The entire backup was completed in less than 15 minutes. Then i decided to create an updated recovery disc for my laptop to do a full recovery, Ghost automatically recognized the fact that my original Recovery Disk had been burned to a rewriteable disc, and proceeded to erase and burn a new updated version on the same disc.. very impressive.

Symantic bought Powerquest and all its software. When they got a hold of Drive Image they had to put their stamp all over it. When they finished, it was no longer the great little product it was. It was changed into a big, clumbersome and glitchy resourse hog.

Norton Ghost is another stellar Symantec product that works exactly as specified. It's the only product I know that can actually restore your entire computer system after a complete hard-drive crash!
Initially, I had some problems backing up my complete system to my Iomega USB drive. After using the technical support chat from their web site, they resolved the problem in matter of minutes.
For the record, the problem was with my USB drive set up and not with Norton Ghost.
You can never go wrong with Symantec. I have used their products for years and I always recommend them to all my friends.

I bought Acronis 6 months ago and after installing it I never heard a peep out of it. Then I woke up one morning suddenly to find that every file had been wiped from my computer. I had no idea how or why this was possible, I only knew that I had to get them back. Awesome Awesome Awesome! I can't say that enough about Acronis True Image 11! This software saved me SO much work that I fear I will be in debt to it for the rest of my life. And its cheap to boot! How can you complain? Basically the story goes like this: My grandparents are computer enthusiasts, and they always have been. Now that they are getting a little bit older my grandfather needs a bit of assistance to maintain both of their machines. He is after all the person responsible for getting me involved with computers in the first place, so it seems only right that I should be the one to help pick up the slack for them.
Anyways, long story short, my grandmother's pc is quite elaborately loaded with desktop publishing utilities and photos galore. When her machine crashes....it is not a pretty site to rebuild. Acronis True Image took care of weeks of headaches....TWICE! So far I have been able to completely restore her pc using True Image and not having to reinstall anything major! I couldn't be happier with this product...

I emailed the tech support center on January 17th with a question because the sole function for which I bought this software (cloning my 320 GB hard drive onto a new 1.5TB drive) wasn't working. I did not receive a response until MARCH 11th! The e-mail said that the delay was due to "a greater than anticipated interest in our products."
Fortunately, I eventually resolved the problem. If you run the software for cloning ONLY and it keeps crashing in the middle of the cloning process (somewhere around step 2 or step 3), fear not. Rather than going through the hassle of actually installing the software, just put the install ation CD in your CD-ROM drive and boot your computer from that drive. The program interface is almost the same, minus a few of the advanced options which really aren't relevant anyway. After literally 15 attempts, I got the whole drive cloned in just over an hour, booting from the CD itself.
Software works well otherwise apart from this issue, but if you need tech support, forget it.

This prodcut is great, I dont understand how people rates it so low, The program is so intuitive that even a kid could use it, thats the reason that is difficult to find support, because you dont need any.
Compared to Norton Ghost Acronis is lighter, I doesnt consumes much ram or procesor like ghost do, the real difference between Norton and Acronis is that Norton is from Symantec, that produces all kind of security software, and Acronis concentrates all the resources in backup and recovery software for desktops, workstations, servers and multiple operating systems.

Like several of the other posts, I was really looking forward to knowing all of my files - and programs - would be safely tucked away in case something happened.
..then something DID happen.
Restoration was not possible, and tech support was non-existent. Thankfully, I had read about another product (Mozy) that keeps everything at their site, encrypted, etc. I'm sitting here, after re-loading Windows, etc - and thankful that I had this second option picked.

Acronis True Image Home 2009 works well on smaller hard drives -- or drives up to 100 GB -- but fails on larger drives I tested above 500GB.
In one case, TI 2009 deleted several programs after restoring from an image.
Shadow Protect Desktop 3.3 is a much better product.

I use Carbonite and would not be without it, but I think a mirror image is nice for a few bucks, too. Something happened in Win XP that would not allow me to log in and I didn't even have a password setup. I couldn't get in in safe mode either. I tried a boot utility on cd but that didn't work. I put in my Acronis disk and selected cd in multiple boot. I plugged in my ext. drive and restored my mirror backup that was 3 weeks old. Carbonite restored my recent data files. All I can say is that Acronis came through for me and the restore was only around 15 minutes (52GB). I ran another mirror image backup today which took around 20 minites. What can I say? I guess you love it or hate it. I have had to restore from all the pgm disks before, re-download, try to find ser. numbers, etc... For me Acronis wins hands down.

This product was a hugh disappointment. It does not support drag and drop. It does not support control-click or shift click to select/deselect files. You have to download a 89 MB file just to bring it up to date. I have email Support twice without any response. I have uninstalled this s/w and will never use it.

Seriously, before complaining, take the time to learn how to use it! It has an extensive & comprehensive help file, I recommend using it just like I had to do. I use Vista Ultimate & have Paragon Hard Disk Manager installed on it. I can assure you, it's harder to use then this. Luckily Vista Ultimate has the ability to image itself & thats the only recovered image that has ever brought back a stable Vista system for me, to date. I'm still learning Paragon but I got it free & legal so I will get it sooner or later. Check out Politically Motivated (dotnet) & you can find out how to get Paragon Hard Disk manager 2009 for free. No, it's not my website but a site I visit often just for things like that.

I have been using Acronis now for a few years, and love it. I previously used Norton Ghost. The advantages of Acronis over Ghost were evident: on-the-fly backup, great support for RAID, etc. At this point, I would not trust any other software to backup my PC...

I bought this to clone my wifes PC. This was the first time I'd used this program and it worked perfectly. After I cloned the drive, the new drive crashed a few days later. I used the old drive and recloned the replacement drive when it arrived. No problems.

I'm not sure how much I can say about this product other than that it does what it is supposed to do and is completely out of my way. I've used it in two scenarios so far: cloning a Vista hard drive to a solid state drive, and full-system backup. Both work flawlessly. I hope I never have to use the full system restore after a crash, but that's what I also bought it for :)

Purchased this product because I needed the capability to do a complete restore (if necessary) in order to preserve the manufacturer's factory build and all license information. I am currently using about 70GB on my hard disk, and ATI does the complete backup to my external USB HD in less than 2 hours. I have tested restoring specific folders and files and it works flawlessly.
The only problem I had was when I tried to create a bootable CD based upon the most current build from Acronis. I was unable to do this because the installation of the new build was faulty. I had to uninstall Acronis completely and reinstall it with the new build from the Acronis web site. It wasn't difficult, just a pain.
Acronis online chat tech support leaves something to be desired. Long waits; marginal competence.
All said, I would buy it again.

I found the Acronis True Image system backup utility to be very easy to use. Creating an image of my 500GB c: drive, which is only about 20% full, took longer than I had expected, but the security of having my system completely backed up is worth the time. I have not yet tried to restore an image, but the instructions are very straightforward. The software also allows creation of a boot CD that will allow you to get your system running so you can restore an image in the event that the system won't boot normally. All in all, Acronis True Image is a good value for the money and, I believe, worth every penny I paid for it in peace of mind even if I never have to restore an image.

I bought Acronis 2009 a few months ago since everywhere I checked it had a good rating. I checked the review on PC World on Acronis 2008 and the review was great. However, when I checked the review on Acronis 2009 the writer said after he backed up his system he discovered all files were not copied. Therefore, he did not give it an A rating. I am still making up my mind if I am going to use it or not since I am not a geek and will not be able to tell if all files have been copied as stated. He stated he contacted Acronis and they did not seem to think it was a big deal and had no updates to correct this. If you are going to use this product check to be sure all your files that are supposed to be copied are copied

I had previously used Ghost for many years several years ago but this program seemed to have better reviews. I installed it am am happy with the results: it does everything I want it to, but I was unable to set up the Acronis Secure Zone on my multi-partitioned disk probably because the software couldn't revise the MBR. I didn't consider this important for my application.

Beware of this software! I have used previous versions with success (although I never had to do a restore) however I could not get this version to install. Naturally I called acronis tech support (a big mistake). In contrast to the written instructions which said otherwise, they insisted that I uninstall the older software. This was no simple matter since that required that I download and install special acronis software for the task, and that software required that I also download two obscure Microsoft routines that were hard to find. Nonetheless I did as instructed only to find that I had a blue screen crash (the worst kind) when I tried to reboot. I had the same result even when I tried to reboot in the "safe" mode. Just before going into terminal panic, I discovered that I could reset to an earlier version of my system which worked OK. I don't want any acronis software anywhere near my computer in the future.

I backed up my hard drive with Acronis True Image. Then I started to format my hard drive so that I could test Acronis. I couldn't boot my laptop. Then I used Acronis to restore my laptop. I did not have to reinstall win xp and then restore. The procedure was very simple. The drawback of this program is that it is not intuitive. You really have to read the help files and stuff to find out what to do.

Acronis makes a great backup program. It's pretty easy to use, and it works with both USB and networked external storage. The only hiccup I came across was trying to restore from a USB-connected external WD Passport hard drive. It took a few reboots and some patience to get the program to recognize the drive. After that, the restore went very smoothly. Scheduling backups is super easy, as is choosing which files to exclude from your backup. I download a lot of disposable videos that I don't keep from week to week, so I don't need those backed up all the time. Lastly, accessing your backups through the Acronis application while the computer is running is very handy. If you don't want to do a full restore, you can restore folders or even single files. All in all, a great buy. Totally worth it.

While the software appears to be creating the backups as instructed, the user interface is very poorly designed and executed. For one example, when you want to create an incremental backup, instead of listing for selection only the files actually on the backup hard drive, it appears to list all the files you've ever created (obviously from a file it creates internally). This makes it very difficult to select the files to append to. This is just one small example. The point is, there is really minimal user interface necessary (so it should have been simplet to design), but it appears the Acronis spent almost no time trying to figure out how to make it easy on the users.

I bought this program after having to rebuild my hard drive (a daylong project). For file backup and restoration, I’ve never found anything as good as Genie Backup manager. It works, and more than once it’s saved my rear-end from trouble, thank God. Genie backup is a very robust and capable backup solution. With Genie backup you can back up your data to just about anywhere on anything. It provides an online storage facility at a price which means you'll never loose your backup discs, and providing you have internet access they'll always be available. Wizards guide you through the backup process making it a very easy job. Having preset functions for backing up personal files such as Outlook and My documents, is a great boon.
Doing a backup with compression seems a bit slow, but maybe that's my computer. My only niggle with Genie, and it's something I noticed in version 7 and was hoping would have been addressed in this version is the following: When starting a new back up using the wizard, you first select to back up your personal files which usually include My documents. The next step is to back up folders. But when you switch to Folders', the My documents folder and any others from the first step are no longer ticked. This can be a bit confusing, but Genie knows you selected them in the first stage so they will be backed up. Genie is a very good backup solution, giving you a wide choice of options and very easy to use.

It's best if you have some technical experience because navigation and installing custom features can be a bit confusing, if this is all new to you. Otherwise, it's easy to understand and use. Genie has a Windows Vista compatible disaster recovery feature guaranteeing you do not need a MS Windows installation CD. I really appreciate Genie's selfbooting recovery disc. The single-user, Pro version of Genie still offers both a traditional interface and Easy Mode. The traditional features standard restore and backup panes in a step-by-step format and access to advanced features; although it's not a button, the easy mode employs the same wizard-based work flow with a cleaner look, and no tools or advanced options.

I purchased Genie Backup Manager Professional V8.0 in CD form. It came with the holder smashed and the disc cracked. Several e-mails later a new disc was sent out. This one was received intact. I loaded the program and was never able to get the program to run without fatal errors. Their customer serve could only come up with lame suggestions on how to fix the problem. I then requested my money back. That got their attention. Some 20 hours of testing and many e-mails back and forth found the problem. The files were too big for the file system. The problem is that customer service claims the program flags this fault. It did not on at least 20 different backups. Genie is the most versatile backup program I could find but not without it bugs. When you do not get satisfaction from customer service ask for you money back. It is the only way to get their attention.

Great product. Only problem I had was it didn't wash the browser history on explorer. It says compatible with Vista, but only after an update. Still leaves browser info behind so I double check after a washing.

I have owned an older version for XP which worked great so I bought this version for my new computer which has Vista Home Premium 64BIT.. Installed fine, didn't work. Updated to the newest version for free and still didnt work. It thinks that it's working. It displays that the wash is completed but its all blank. After email to webroot help, I recieved links to other problems that are different from mine, and for only $29.95 they will resolve this issue for me when I call. Very disapointed ! Maybe it doesn't work with the 64bit version of vista ?

Webroot has stated that Window Washer 6.5 (latest) does not support 64 bit OS. It's a great product for XP 32bit, however. It installs on Vista 64 and appears to work but does not delete any files. Pity.

For Vista it doesn't clean history, logins, searches etc. Webroot customer service admitted that these features do not yet work in Vista, but would be fixed in future releases. It's been 4 months now and new updates have still not fixed it. So the product, as far as I'm concerned is only half functional and thus fairly useless.

It cleans out files that Disk Cleanup misses. It can be set to clean your .dat files so all surfing history is removed from your computer. I have used it for a year and am now adding it to a second computer I just purchased. BTW I use IE and Firefox.

I use AVG IS on 2 PCs, both have the same problem, SOMETIMES a newly opened IE window can't connect to web site(even localhost) while ping and other web applications working fine. I did a lot of seach on internet, try to find out the problem and did some changes on my PC, finally found out it's because of AVG. After uninstall AVG, they are back to normal. So I'm only using AVG Anti-Virus part now. And my PC got much faster.

AVG 7.5 was extremely good: fast, reasonably lightweight and unobtrusive. Version 8 is awful: *extremely* bloated, cumbersome, and it often floods the user with useless popups and notifications.

I downloaded the trial version and it brought surfing to a crawl. Even with LinkChecker disabled it was still really slow. An informal side-by-side comparison to my older laptop (running AVG 7.5 and Spyware Blaster) showed that the same page (Yahoo) was 30 seconds slower on a brand-new Dell desktop running AVG 8. I uninstalled AVG 8 and setup 7.5 with Spyware Blaster on the desktop and now it's smokin' fast. And, the latter setup is free.

Well my desktop has 4 gig ram and a 3.0 possessor,my laptop has 4 gig ram and a 2.0 possessor. I don't know if that really makes a difference but AVG 8.0 has not affected my computers at all. I have 20 days left on the trial. This is FAST,QUIET & EFFECTIVE. I really like it. It is not a resource hog like I have read. It does the job and does it very well. GET IT.

AVG has turned a perfectly good AV software into something just as bad as those suites that come with computers (you know the ones!). It is so hard to find a good basic AV program. They all try and be a all purpose tool and end up causing more problems. Frankly, I have gone back to using the online scans every week or so and just being cautious and not having any AV installed.

I just deleted 8.0 on both of our computers - going back to 7.5. Both computers were noticeably slower and my laptop had started freezing - something it's never done. I was careful to only install AVG8 -(custom) without the addons. The interface is confusing - too much going on - I suppose I would've gotten used to it in time but the performance issues settled it. It's not the AVG that was basic and always dependable - been using it for years! yep - disappointed.....

I knew this kind of programs existed, and Roboform Password Manager is pretty much what I had anticipated with a few convenient tricks. I like its ability to serve as an extra launch bar for some frequently accessed sites. Password generator is nice, although somewhat expected. However, it was unable to do anything for a website that uses Flash technology on its login page. This severely limited the usefulness of the program for me. It's nice to be able to keep all passwords protected with a master password. But is it too much like keeping all your eggs in one basket? I am still undecided. 4 out of 5 would be fair.

My life is less complicated because I use Roboform. This is an absolutely true statement. I have the Pro version. It is worth two or three times what I paid for it. There are far too many passwords for me to manage by memory. I have always paid attention to security so this software was so much better than just having Windows remember it. Hackers know where to look for this information and I never liked the idea of not being able to protect it. Roboform essentially puts all of my passwords in a safe that only I can access. Perhaps one of the best benefits of Roboform is that I am not constantly using key strokes to enter information so it cuts down on the possibility that vital information might get stolen. The automatic form filler is incredible. I can just click on fill forms and all of the information is filled out just like that. I have saved a great deal of time and avoided countless headaches with my wife and children as they log into their different websites has made Roboform one of the best software purchases I have ever made.

Very handy! Most of us are registered to a lot of websites, and tend to lose track of what passwords go to which site. Or, we use the same passwords over and over (not a good idea) and for some of us, myself in particular, when we go to make these crucial log-in changes, sometimes it's difficult to maintain. But Roboform turned out to be a very nifty program that took the stress away, especially the tedious "let me check and sort through my verification e-mails" dilemma.

Great Password Management Software I find Roboform quite simple to use and convenient. The nice thing about it is that it protects your sensitive data such as credit card numbers, address, usernames and passwords, while offering the convenience of filling this information in for you. The best use I have found for this software is that I do not have to continually type in my usernames and passwords for every Internet account I have. I simply go to the site of my choice and Roboform does the rest. While it does not seem like a lot of software for the price, its affectiveness makes it a worthwhile purchase.

I tried 3 free password managers, 2 did not work really good and one was just plain old manaul insertion. Roboform has worked flawlessly now since I purchased it. It is just what I was looking for in a password manager program. The automatic insertion of user/pw codes is fabulous and now I've started using the generated, more complex passwords because I know I can trust it. I never did trust the free PW porgrams to the degree I do with Roboform. If you do a lot of online shopping, you need this program.

I have been using Roboform for years. It was a wonderful investment. I use it to enter sweepstakes and contests, and I have had quite a few wins. It makes entry very easy. CAUTION: Norton 360, stopped my Roboform tool bar from loading properly. My advice, buy Roboform. Do NOT buy NORTON 360. I had to remove Norton from my computer and replace it with a different program.

Well, I own it through 5/2012 so I guess I better learn to live with it. This update has an added option to check for updates hourly which I love. It never misses now! Scan times about the same. 28 minutes or so, scanning 3 drives with about 350 GB.

Great detection rates and doesn't slow your computer down when it sweeps for spyware. The real-time protection is awesome! I just love the way the window pops up to notify me of something, because it makes me really rely on it, no doubt about it.I refuse to keep have to click "cancel" every time I start Windows. Thanks to Secure Backup, I must avoid loading SS with Windows. Otherwise, I'd have to deal with their stupid, defective, useless logon for a broken feature I don't need. Webroot support has been slow to respond to these problems. The only reason for two star is that SS itself works reasonably well. Secure Backup, however, must die.

Program leaves 110MB folder in temp directory that can't be erased. Webroot support says it's required to work and user just has to live with it. At least that it;s what it seems because it takes several e-mails for them to respond, and then the say the same thing. Program is gone from my computer

You must purchase the fully licensed version to get full protection. I wouldn't recommend buying this as it's protection isn't as solid. Try Malwarebytes.

They really blew it with that garbage log in at loading time. But like I said, I've yet to find a perfect AS app & this keeps me clean. Love it or hate it, thats fine by me but, clean is the bottom line for me. Their not "PC Tools" which are now, nothing more then scam artists! It runs fine on my new Vista Ultimate PC. When it comes to my PC's, free security software doesn't cut it! Use whatever you like but I'll be clean with "Spy Sweeper " & my extended license only cost me $10 a year. Show me a better option & I'll check it out! Until then, I'll keep what I have!

The new interface is awesome. This program always worked well for me. It's good at blocking malware and sites without being annoying. I like to run SpywareBlaster 4.1 and Defender with it.a-squared antimalware has a really good scanner that I like.Webroot Spy Sweeper is my main line of defense.

I had Norton 2009 installed on my computer. I was having some trouble with it and decided to order a different brand of internet security software. I purchased Panda. I installed it and compared to Norton it's very generic. The full system scans literally took "forever", plus I didn't feel the layout was very user friendly when it came to configuring what features you wanted to turn on and off. There was no option for a quick scan so you had to choose the full scan which took about 45 min to an hour. Also, once you uninstall you cannot reinstall and keep your remaining subscription days, the disk is no longer valid. I ended up going back to Norton, got my situation resolved and was able to reinstall my Norton product with no problems. I am used to Norton because I have used it for so long so I may be partial, but if I ever wanted to switch again it would not be for Panda. It may be cheap to buy but it's also cheap to use. I didn't have it on long enough to judge whether or not it is a good internet security product so it's just my opinion that it's not user friendly for me.

Every time updates run Panda creates a backup. It does not overwrite each time. In less than 45 days it had filled my hard drive. Now I just delete the back up copies once a week. Other wise it works ok.

I thought i would try Panda, big mistake, slows your computer, very intrusive and i believe it has "securerom" in it too. Anyway i deleted it and went back to "Live One care' hassle free and not intrusive whatsoever. By the way before you ask, My computer is a quadcore with 8 gigs of memory and running a 8800 gt card, so it,s not the computer, its the program, save yourself some grief and buy something else, ANYTHING else except for Norton, thats worse.Oh and it stops Window Defender from running too. Have a great day.

My techie friend and advisor suggested I use this program a few years ago, after my PC crashed. I prompt it to scan my drives whenever I conduct a maintance, which is atleast once a month. I also use it when the PC is slow and sluggish. Once the scan is complete, I delete unwanted items and restart my PC. I always see a difference in my computer operation after a scan. I love the product and I am getting the latest update right now.

I have used the free version for the last three years and it worked great. It did the job searching for cookies, anomalies, etc., then deleting them. This new product is something else. It identifies the junk items but does not delete them. Yes, I have read the manual, gone on-line, etc. It was a waste of money. Nothing on Amazon, it is the product itself.

I am in a field where I am constantly on the internet surfing, with that in mind I needed software that would protect my computer from spyware and adware. I don't know exactly what happened here but I got XP Antivirus on my machine. Apparently it isn't really antivirus or a virus but it definitely screwed up my machine. Stopzilla techs helped me through the whole procecss of getting it off my machine .. thank you stopzilla.There product is good I guess but I wish I had it before I got the XP antivirus on my machine.

I totally dislike software firewalls. ZoneAlarm has become bloatware over the years. Hardware firewalls or routers are much better. You can protect every computer on your network, instead of having to setup a software firewall on every computer. Plus hardware firewalls act as a first line of defense for your network and can stop DOS attacks and other junk like that.

That is if you get the AV + Firewall Beta... but thats for the paying customers... it's still very good either way and it's very resource efficant and works extreemly well. i think this is what should be at the very top of the market.

As stated previously this is not freeware! at best this is shareware! once the trail expires (doesn't tell you when) you cannot receive the automatic updates. hard to uninstall and not free.As far as Panda AV goes: it found spyware even after running lavasoft and spybot s&d. so at least its a good anti-malware product.

I just purchased and installed Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 the other day. The price was right the install was very simple and it immediately detected infected files on my system which were mostly tracking cookies. Can’t ask for anything more

I had used PC Cillin and Webroot Spysweep, however I still kept getting fake pop up messages stating that my computer was infected. I also tried to manually erase the culprits in my system 32 file and the application data file. They kept coming back, though. I then decided to give panda a try, beings it is a free beta test and all, didn't think it would hurt. WOW, this was the only way I could get my Compute Back...EXCELLENT PROGRAM

unlike stated above the trial does tell you when it expires point blank very clear...install date and expiration date there on main window in blue print on white background. very user friendly and appears to work well so far plan on trying and then buying if works as planned.

I installed Panda's Anti-Virus onto my boss' computer over 3 months ago because she was having problems with McAffee (aka- she kept allowing things to install that shouldn't have been installed). Anyway, I set up to install Panda's AntiVirus and their internet security, but was a little hesitant to do so as I hadn't heard much about it. However, to my surprise, Panda was incredibly user friendly (even my boss can understand it and she's completely computer illiterate!!!). Also, we haven't had any issues thus far with the computer and it seems to be keeping it nice and clean. I'll be getting a new laptop soon and using these programs on my own computer because it's so simple and fast. I also like that she doesn't get a "slow" problem when it's scanning for viruses

I gave Panda Anti-Virus 4 Stars because it is one of the easiest and most process friendly anti-virus on the market today. It is also very reasonably priced and sports a very fast install even with the virus scan that it performs during the installation. One of my favorite features about Panda Av is the ability to run scan during normal computer usage and not have my computer slow down. The reason that your computer doesn't slow down is because of the small amount of process power that it takes to run. All in all Panda Av is perfect for the average computer user that doesn't want to deal with setting the settings on their Anti-Virus programs or even hassle with all the technical stuff.

I used Panda for the first time ealiert this year when they released the 2009 range and i am very impressed. They use a technology from the cloud called collective intelligence that updates real time, hence it detects much more and does not consume computer resources. Very impressive.

I use AVG 8 along with Ad-aware and Spybot Search & Destroy programs and am Virus, Trojan, Hijacker, and Rogue Antivirus free... Learn to use a computer before you discourage other people from useing good software.

After replacing Norton AV with NOD32 my bootup seems to require half the time. Interface is easier to navigate and more intuitive. Much better to setup. Best of all, this program is VERY light on system resources. I can do a system scan with almost little slowdown while surfing the web. Nod32 quickly updates a few times per day without apparent drag. One of the best pieces of software I've ever used.

One great thing is, I run multiple operating systems on the same desktop PC & don't have to buy more user licenses for those. With ESET, it's one license, one PC. This is per their tech support staff. Now, in my book, that makes this a great security suite at a good price. I've been infection free since I started with ESET a year ago & I do live a little dangerously on line as well as the fact that I use a P2P program for music & movies. Simply put, "I love this product"! Its light on it's feet & very effective. Highly recommended to all with a Windows PC, especially Vista.

I have used Eset Smart Security for over a year now with excellent results, and have just upgraded to version 4, which is even better.Today it notified me that there were important Microsoft updates available less than a minute after I logged in! Eset updates are automatic and almost instantaneous and if anything is amiss on your computer, the icon changes from grean to amber for Windows update warnings etc. and turns red for any virus or trojan. Any infection is instantly quaranteened for submission to Eset (which helps to identify any new threats) and deletion, before it can harm your system.

I've used other firewalls including AVG, McAffe, ZoneAlarm, and Norton. Lavasoft is my favorite so far. I have to agree with the last review "It seems most of the negative reviewers have never used lavasoft firewall, and just use something else". I'm no expert, but the Lavasoft interface is pretty straight forward, easy to use, and understand. It has advanced options for those who really know what they're doing. It doesn't slow down my computer at all. One of the things I really like about it is the ability to copy log text. Very useful in searching if you don't know what an entry is, or for posting logs for others to diagnose your problem. It also works well with Windows Vistax64! At this point I have nothing but praise for this firewall.

I would highly recommend product like Zone alarm. I own Total protection, recently my PC got infected by XP Police Anti-virus which is a malware. I contacted support, which asked me this can be fixed by mcafee for a fee. I was shocked !!!! First I pay for the service for 1 year and now they demand more money if they want to clean the virus.. whats the point if they cannot fix the virus that my machine has got infected and if they will still charge if machine gets infected.
I would recomend Zone alarm or other software but definatly not McAfee.

This VirusScan was very easy to install and protects your computer by instantly scanning the system. Updates your computer periodically and this software is inexpensive. I would recommend everybody to use McAfee.

I recently bought a new Dell desktop which came with a 30 day trial of McAfee VirusScan 2009. After I installed the trial version (good for 30 days) it crashed my computer. I had to get help from a level 3 technician from Dell which cost me $135.00 to help me rebuild and restore my computer. I have other versions of McAfee on my old desktop and they drove me nuts with popups, and annoying messages. My advice is to stay away form this program unless it comes with a can of Raid to destroy all the bugs.

I've been using McAfee VirusScan for over five years, and it's a straight-forward piece of software that does the job advertised. I have two complaints with the 2009 version: (1) it extends boot-up time by two or more minutes; and (2) I expect that as was true with the 2008 version, at the end of a year it will deactivate, so that you will get no virus protection whatsoever until you pay for another year. The latter is, in my opinion, an annoying and unnecessary marketing ploy, because out-of-date protection is superior to no protection.

WARNING -- McAfee VirusScan does not work with Internet Explorer 8. I bounght this product and found the product would not work on my computer. McAfee customer support did not help with the problem. After doing independant researh I discovered VirusScan was incompatible with the Imternet Explorer8 which was running on my Vista operating system. After I uninstalled IE 8 and reinstalled IE 7 on my computer everyting worked fine. This was a process that requires a medium level of computer knowledge. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT UNTIL MCAFEE FIXES IT TO WORK WITH IE 8.

This item was very install on my laptop that runs on Windows Vista. My laptop had an older version of McAfee and during the installation the old version was removed and replaced with the new version that I had ordered. I have not noticed that my laptop takes longer to start up as other reviewers had stated. I like the little rating icon that I get in the upper left hand corner in regards to the safety of a web site that I visit; nice to know that someone is looking out for you.
Purchasing this product was a lot cheaper than renewing my current subscription to McAfee.

I have had my computer for over a year with no problems, until I inserted this cd, that is. I don't know what happened but all of a sudden my computer was freezing and had to be restarted. However, when I restarted my computer it went to the BSoD (Blue Screen of Death for those who have not had this honor...) and never recovered. I looked up all kinds of information on the error code and basically I had no option but to reload Windows. I then had to run out and buy an external hard drive to back up all of my files, but that ended up being in vain because Vista apparently doesn't like recovery files... But that's a whole different issue. Anyways, this item ended up costing me a lot more than the initial price for the software, not to mention all the headache. I think I'll just stick with Norton

This is a great anti-virus. But I can't hardly notice anything different from last years. Its virus detection is basically the same. Although i have had any recently. The only new key feature that I notice was McAfee easy share which lets you easily set up a network and make it secure to transfer data between you computers. Other then that that pretty much sums it up. It is a good anti-virus just not much more to add to the table

After moving to Vista with a new PC a year and a half ago, I continued to use McAfee. (new PC with dual AMD processors and 6 gig of RAM!). However, in the past six months or so, my PC started to experience "not responding" errors across numerous applications. I was getting ready to do a fresh OS install when I decided to try Windows OneCare. Believe it or not, this MS product (so far at least) solved my issues. The McAfee Internet Security software was very easy to load into my system. I like the way it runs in the background with no interference to anything else I am doing. The updates come automatically and it does a complete scan of my system at set intervals, again with no interference to any other programs that I may be running at the time.

For many years I used Norton, but the last version I used slowed my computer down, so I switched to McAfee a couple of years ago and was pretty happy with it. When my subscription expired, I purchased IS 2009. It works OK and I like the Site Advisor feature, but installing it was a nightmare. On my first attempt, the install hung up, so I manually uninstalled my old version and tried again. I couldn't get Site Advisor to work and it kept prompting me to activate my product. So I tried to uninstall/install with no success. Finally, after rooting around through the support site, which I didn't find all that good, I downloaded a separate product (MCPR.EXE)from McAfee which uninstalls old versions (even though the new version is supposed to uninstall the old one). After running that, I finally got the new version to install properly.
If I were switching to a different program, I might expect some glitches, but upgrading to a new version from the same company should NOT be this painful. This is probably my last version of McAfee

After installing this program I found it to be crashing my system constantly. I could not get it to uninstall Norton which came pre-loaded and it kept crashing. After several attempts to work with customer service it seems that they could not help me at all. I called Norton's customer service and they actually scolded me for going with this product.
About 2 weeks after installing this and having to use my laptop to work I went to the store and purchased Windows Live One, that was perfect and now my computer runs like new. It is a very personal choice, but my computer simply didn't like this program

McAfee has really got a pretty good product. The internet protection seems to be effective but most importantly the day to day maintenance is relatively unobtrusive. Some of the network protections are a bit confusing but all in all a great product. The 3 user licensing makes great sense too because most people now have multiple computers in the home

The virus scan seems to work, but I have been getting a persistent icon stating that my computer is still not protected. When I hit the button that purports to fix this, it triggers another icon that claims "security center is checking for updates" which is distracting and continues as long as the computer is running. (I googled this and apparently it is happening to lots of customers.) When I called McAfee the automated phone response proudly announced that there is free 30-day telephone support for new purchasers; I waited for fifteen minutes listening to the most high-pitched, irritating on-hold music ever, and then spoke with a representative who told me that due to high call volume it would be at least another fifteen minutes on hold, so for now I will be living with the annoying icons

Not that much new in terms of features, but then v2008 covered the Internet security ground so well, I don't know what more one would need.
With this year Trend now allows you to manage your three computer license yourself via an Account system. This is especially convenient for mobile computer users that may want to change computers from time to time, but exceed the three computer installation limit.

Have it since 3 years and does the job, for the one's it does not work it's because there system is F...UP in the first place. Use Tune Up Utilities 2009 paid, your system will go very fast. I have Dell server P4, XP Fam. 1 G Ram.I had Spy Bot and took it off but the immunize this F...Up a feature of Trend : Prevent Unauthorized changes. The ingenious Rubino of Trend found that and fix it by re-installing the programme and reverse immunize this.I took off Spy Bot after. I could writhe more but see by your self. Have a nice life until 2012 ?

I installed this on my NEW HP laptop. It worked great. It ran quick, in the background. Did not hog anything. But I noticed other things went wrong. The mute button would crash my laptop. I could not get the bluetooth keyboard to work right. I After spending 2.5 hours on the phone with HP, I finally uninstalled Trend Micro Internet Security. My computer worked fine again. While on the phone still in the 2nd hour, I asked what Virus protection HP recommends. They said they support Norton for their computers. I bought Norton 2009 Antivirus. It works perfect. And the new one is the best ever. So while I liked Trend, with an HP, compaq or other computers look somewhere else.

This product was installed in Sept '08 and, so far, it has protected my computer and done everything I'd expected from a virus/firewall product. When I first installed the product, it kept telling me that it wasn't compatible with my Windows Vista (I purchased the product from an office suply). However, when I called Trend Micro Customer Service, I got immediate help from a link they sent me to solve my issue. Issue solved and I'm happy with this software. Live Chat is too cumbersome to use with Trend Micro, when I tried to reach them, I got disconnected. Not sure if it's their problem or mine, however, I've not had any issues with any other live chat sites....

Many products are given a bad review because many people either don't have their PC'S running in good condition.Too many conflicts or are not set up properly! I have owned many iterations of this software. At one time it was one of the best AV/Firewall programs out there. It was one of the first of breed to work on Vista 64. The newest version (this one) is awful. It never runs correct; fails to update properly; the firewall fails to load and, the program fails to uninstall cleanly. Do yourself a favor and move on to another product

I download it, go to the site to get the free register key, but it seems to think I have multiple accounts, or some other error. No customer service on the weekend. Find a program you don't have to register for. This isn't true freeware. Maybe it's nagware!

This program has four parts. You have to install all of them. When I installed the progams, my computer could not connect to my LAN. Probably because the firewall program conflicted with my far superior firewall program. Once I uninstalled this program, I could then connect to my LAN. There is a reason that it was discounted to a price much less than the spyware program alone

This software package blocks everything from running. as soon as I uninstalled it all the problems I mentioned above went away. I uninstalled it after waiting (i have vonage) 2 hours for someone to answer the support line. My contact information was taken and then I was put back in queue to wait another hour and I never spoke to anyone. By then I had the software uninstalled. - Never got the promised call, if we got cut off. BTW my webroot ticket number is 081215-000955. Call them see if you can get through.

I the critical consumer - this is just good software !
I have had atleast 7 difffent 'spyware' pkgs over the years. MOST put their 'spyware' right on my machine and I paid to put it there. They forgot to tell me that it didn't stop THEIR spying eyes. In 2007 SpySweeper stopped an intruder and I needed to call WebRoot for the next step. Good service. I'm impressed...and it turns out the 'issue' wasn't even a WebRoot issue. The software price has crept up a bit in a couple of years...but then again...so has the cost of an intrusion. Good job WebRoot.

Kaspersky is a very good antivirus product but you need to know what you are doing because it is NOT user friendly. There are constantly making changes so you need to uninstall the old version and install the new one whenever your renewal is up. (It's not automatic). To avoid this, I upped for 3 years-and ended up short by 4 months. Instead of expiring in Sept of 2011, it expires in May. It took three days to get a reply to my email. It contained all kinds of files to uninstall my old and install the newest version (which I already did which is how I learned I was short by 4 months). 2 and a half hours on the phone. Unfortunately, it closed before someone could actually answer the phone so that time was wasted. And now I sit here waiting for someone to come "live chat" with me. Their 12 mins approx time is going on 1 hour and 9 minutes. If I had to do it all over, I'd check out something that has a half way decent Customer Service.

The Kaspersky is a very good antivirus. I bought it because a friend recommended it as the best antivirus at present. I have only had it about a week, but I can say this much: It can be hard to install. For example, I had previously had the Panda and the AVG. I had uninstalled the Panda but the AVG was so hard to uninstall I had to have it done. Then the Kaspersky is a bit old-fashioned; you have to do a lot of rebooting. Luckily I had read other reviews and did NOT uninstall the Ad-Aware, because it erases all the spyware the Kaspersky does not eliminate.

I have a very long time the Kaspersky Antivirus for Windows XP, and was highly satisfied. So it was no question that I have my Vista PC with the latest version equipped. The few negative reviews I was not nervous, I'm optimistic assumption that such problems require a itself will not take. Kaspersky therefore ordered and installed - on my calculator, a few months now completely run smoothly. That should change! Complete six crashes within the first 24 hours of operation, one of them even with blue screen. That must be one with Windows Vista once created. The crashes were so hard that only off and helped turn the PC (very bad for me, a complete novelty under Vista). I then again frustrated the Kaspersky uninstalled and so on quite miraculous manner the system stability can wiederhergestellen. Conclusion: For users with Windows Vista (SP1) is such a bad virus. It integrates itself deeper into the system than it is good. At least, the uninstaller clean. The incompatibility with third-party firewall, I can also confirm. Antivirus refuses to install if it include a firewall from home can attest. Microsoft would be such a number is certainly competitive with legal complaints have been exaggerated. I'm just disappointed.

I've been forever freeware antivirus software on the computer had. Now times have I dared to switch because I recently started a (albeit rather harmless but still) had little virus problem. Kaspersky Antivirus, I had a few good test results in journals over the years every now and then and so was seen as no more big decision to take, what to "buy goods" I would install. Kaspersky antivirus was installed quickly and needed no great to be configured to my computing environment to run well. The Komplettscan that I after installing a precaution did, ran through quite quickly compared to my previous program. This system is now daily scans are no longer quite so annoying and my system is backed up by even better than before because of a long scan only weekly check.

I could now finally overcome to move Kaspersky;) after my previous antivirus program partially true nerve has cost (slower boat operation and Co). Just in time for the new version almost. I had read that the program not only works when a virus already on the computer drives his outrages, but in advance take many precautions, which possibly existing gaps in the system find and remove. It would be helpful to at least report on the amount of resources it requires to run, like how much RAM is being used in 'active protection' mode, and how much CPU and RAM is being used during a scan. That would allow a better comparison with other products out there.

I switched our company over this year to Kaspersky due to some good reviews and high catch rates per some AV tests run end of last year and early this year and I couldn't be happier. I no longer have to monitor the users near as much and warn them from clicking on things. People will click, and now I can breathe easier. Fantastic Product!

well, i have been used avira anti virus free edition, mm, it protects my computer against virus but certainly not spyware! about the kapersky, my family uses it and it is so powerful so that it affects the internet connection in order to prevent virus..but many of my friends said that kapersky is a powerful anti virus software, i have noticed it too when my family opened the computer but i prefer the free edition and avira is certainly the best, at least for now!

I used Norton 360 and it always tied up my computer resources. When it was scanning the computer would slow to a crawl and it really did not work well with other software or hardware (including my HP printer). I tried a free trial version of the Kaspersky and found it worked better for me. With Norton, you really did not have to say whether or not much was safe or not, it decided for you. With Kaspersky, if you want it to really work well, you have to spend time letting it learn what you think it should allow. That may not be for everyone. I like this software well enough to renew it.

I think this is a great antivirus software for the price, it is easy to install and really easy to use. I did not like the fact that when the internet security is turned on, it slows the connection down because it scans every bit being sent by the websites. When I turned it off, I was flying through pages.

Kaspersky can be loaded on a PC that is already infected. It will find 99% of all malicious software (no anti-virus finds 100%) including the most aggressive such as rootkit and boot sector virii.I purchased the 3-user license at a discount and have been satisfied with the product. Kaspersky did have a problem in one of their intermediate version releases, but eventually that was resolved.

I'm currently using Kaspersky's trial Anti-Virus. There is a yellow bar which says "Your computer security is at risk" and gives me the option to "Fix it now". Clicking that button opens another page which informs me that I need a license. Tab 2 tells me that some common .exe's, ie., java, firefox, realplay, opera, excel, are highly/very dangerous. Is this trial antivirus doing nothing to protect me? What will the license do to these applications?

Kaspersky is one of the best (if not THE best) brands. Naturally, it will do something (a lot) to protect you - then again, most average users may not realistically need such protection. All up to you.I don't recommend any of the freeware antivirus programs.

Has the potential to be as good or better than the 7.0.1.325 version AFTER they fix this bug which prevents you from booting up in normal mode in Vista 64-bit OS without a crash and is difficult to remove.After installing and running the first update the system crashed and dumped memory. No chance of rebooting in normal mode after that without a crash. To remove it I had to boot in safe mode then use msconfig to prevent it from starting in normal mode where it can finally be removed. I then reinstalled Kaspersky 7.0?. Too bad the 2009 version is NOT ready for 64-bit use.

While it may be pricey, that cost is for a license that covers multiple computers, so it can actually be a very good value. It’s a great tool for the novice or advanced user.

I'll never know if Kaspersky was the best software against viruses or not, it never once completed a scan. A couple of time left my computer running for three days and it never even got half way through before I realized it probably never would finish. The tech support was terrible. I bought McAfee and it completes a scan in less than 2 and a half hours. Maybe its not the best, but at least it was capable of completing the cycle.

I recently was having a problem with my computer and downloaded the home trial of Kaspersky's anti virus. Well, it worked great and I am now virus free and didn't cost a cent. I am really impressed because most of the free downloads will scan for a virus but not get rid of it until you buy the package. This was really totally free and worked 100% percent. I will buy the complete version after seeing this in action.

Personally I feel that out of all of the anti-virus programs Kaspersky has the most value for it's money. I have used all of the major anti-virus programs , i.e. Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro, Panda, etc., and Kaspersky is the one that I have stuck with. The one major aspect of Kaspersky that I love is how it doesn't take over my system. With other programs my system ran very slow, they took up a lot of RAM with the several different executable files it would run along with the main program.Kaspersky didn't do that to me...

I have used this software for the past three years, when compared to two other products that were delivered one with my Dell laptop and the other with my custom desktop Kaspersky has outperformed both products. This is a great product, easy to purchase, easy to install and, in my opinion, provides superior protection to most similar products. Support when necessary has been excellent. The purchase price is well worth the protection, I think the product has been underated.

I have used Kaspersky Anti-Virus for the past 4 years with great success.I was leary of buying the 2009 version reading the 4 previous customer comments. But, I did.I uninstalled the old version 7.0 and rebooted the PC. I then downloaded and ran the AVG removal utility, and rebooted. Then turned off the Firewall.I then installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009. No problems. Installation, updating, and configuration took only 20 minutes.It was cheaper buying the software thru amazon.com than renewing the 2007 version thru Kaspersky, which would had to be uninstalled anyway, and install the 2009 download. Plus this gives you a C D should you have to reinstall it at a future date.Richard in Irving, TEXAS

A little over a month ago, as careful as I usually am, I misclicked somewhere and a trojan keylogger was able to find it's way into my computer. I had just downloaded the newest Norton internet security and after the keylogger had begun it's damage I ran several scans, but Norton couldn't find it. My options were: reformat, pay Norton $100.00 to scan my system remotely from their tech. support, or try another anti-virus. I picked up Kaspersky and followed the install directions (had a bit of a hangup with uninstalling AVG, just need to check with the troubleshooting feature Kaspersky provides). Kaspersky found the trojan in 4 minutes and deleted all versions of it from my computer. I have not had any trouble, and my computer loads faster since installing Kaspersky.

The Kaspersky is a very good antivirus. I bought it because a friend recommended it as the best antivirus at present. I have only had it about a week, but I can say this much: It can be hard to install. For example, I had previously had the Panda and the AVG. I had uninstalled the Panda but the AVG was so hard to uninstall I had to have it done. Then the Kaspersky is a bit old-fashioned; you have to do a lot of rebooting. Luckily I had read other reviews and did NOT uninstall the Ad-Aware, because it erases all the spyware the Kaspersky does not eliminate.

This is by far the best anti-virus,anti-spyware,anti-fishing and firewall product I have ever used and I have used the best known, such as Norton and McAfee. Virus scan is extremely fast and efficient. It has a great firewall that keeps unwanted intrusion off your computer.I recommend this product over anything on the market, hands-down!

Watch out when you get a message asking if you want to delete something. Because of this "feature" I deleted a Windows system file. This program is not as user friendly as it could be.

One of the Best Around.After having great success with Kaspersky's Anti-Virus, I tried their Internet Security software. I was equally impressed. Many security suites make promises and don't even begin to live up to them. This software far exceeded my expectations. I was extremely impressed with the parental control feature. This program does an excellent job at protecting my computer from all the threats out there today. I have been happy with the results and have no problems with memory or processors issues. I'm Making the Switch! I had never heard of Kaspersky until a friend told me about it, and now I plan on using this on my computer permanently. A few days after I installed it, the program popped up with an update, and I clicked on it, thinking it would take forever to update it like other programs, but it let me update quickly, and without stopping what I was already doing. That's easily the best part of the program, it works fast and lets you keep working on other stuff at the same time. I was checking my email and had another program running at the same time, and it didn't slow me down at all.

After about a month of using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, I finally had no alternative but to uninstall it from my PC. Initially when I installed it, I had to remove both zone alarm and avast antivirus. I was impressed! Not only did it remove over 200 spyware, it detected 7 viruses as well! I was really pleased because obviously my PC worked much faster after that.
The the problems began. For some reason there were sites like youtube I could not access, and I was trying to sort out the settings but found nothing wrong with the firewall setting or any other settings for that matter. I'm not a computer geek but I'm pretty good with computer stuff. If I failed to sort out the problem then maybe it was not user-friendly enough? Also, scanning the whole system took quite a while. Still, I highly recommend the product because of its multi-functionality and timely updates.

Although I hated doing it, I've moved on to ESET Smart Security. The move solved both of the problems I was having with KIS. Vistas performance is what it should have been all the time and ESET's AV always engages at startup on my Win XP Pro drive.

I use Revo uninstaller to uninstall all my programs. After trying out the trial version of this, I uninstalled with Revo. After My computer froze for about 3min, I finally did a hard boot, and logged back into windows. The windows xp boot screen was telling me that Kaspersky was still installed, even after the uninstall. Nothing also, that this "program" destroyed system restore, I finally decided to reformat, and start from scratch. There are better security programs out there, and this one does not cut it.

Kaspersky is not very good like Norton or McAfee. It slows down your system worse than any other internet security. I found that I can't delete stuff that it finds harmful to my system. All the years I've used an internet security, I found Norton to be the best.

This not only works well, it is a brick wall. It blocks all of the bad stuff. Then it shows a small pop-up description of what it just blocked. It will update itself several times per day to make sure they are blocking the most recent internet threats. Upon set up, it allows the user to permit sites which they deem as questionable and programs so Kaspersky doesn't block everything. It lets the user set the parameters. I have been using it for months and haven't had any spyware, adware or other unwanted threats. Not just good, this security software/blocker is excellent. Warning: will significantly slow down older computers at start up. I have dramatically reduced the start up wait time by installing more memory (very easy and cheap to do, look into it). I was more than happy to trade a few more minutes wait at start up for the security. Great product.

The internet security is the bomb. It blocks everything that tries to invade your PC. I've tried Norton 360, Symantec Anti-virus, spysweeper search&destroy. All of those does not even come close to Kaspersky. Check out Kaspersky Lab web site, and see for yourself. Great product. Definitely recommended for your computer

I guess I wasted my money, since right now I'm downloading (and paying for) Norton Antivirus after all. Kaspersky was just too confusing, and I ended up with more popups than Windows Vista, asking if some action should be allowed. Certain actions I indicated should always be allowed, but Kaspersky just didn't seem to be able to remember that. The SPAM! NOT SPAM! POSSIBLE SPAM! mail feature was also annoying, since it altered the subject line of messages. Stick with what I know, I guess.

Kaspersky is just how it was advertised and the reviews said it was. After getting all the trash (Norton) out of my computer and a quick installation I found this program works without disruption, doesn't hog my memory, doesn't slow my machine down but all the information you need is just a click away. My machine is a 64 bit so it is not easy to find security for it, but I am glad I found Kaspersky. It is great

KIS2009 is THE best spyware/antivirus program i have ever used. it almost instantly detected that i had a few spyware issues and a medium-risk trojan but i was later able to take them off. The installation is very simple and fast however the only con i can think of is that the full scan takes about 1 1/2 to complete but other than that fantastic buy and well worth the extra $ !!!

Most of the time functions quietly and unobtrusively in the background, but it doesn't catch all of the spyware, not by any means, and somewhat worryingly, it allows some medium-level threats to get through. No better than any of the others I have tried, but no worse, either.

I have used ZA for over 6 years. It has been very stable. Since ver 8.02 came out, I cannot seem to shut my PC down, or even restart, without doing a hard boot. ZA is terrible for Customer Support. They make you pay to get human tech support.

I liked the first ZoneAlarm Pro (years ago when my father had it on the older computer).The icon started blinking every time an attacker would want to break into your computer, you would click on it and it would show you his/her location.Now I’m using ZoneAlarm Security Suite, works just as great, but no blinking! Long live ZoneAlarm.

Interesting comments on Zone Alarm. I tried it years ago and was not happy with it at the time, but no doubt things have changed.
I was wondering: do you have any thoughts on
1) ZA in comparison to the built-in firewall features of Windows XP;
2) ZA in comparison to a combination of McAfee’s Enterprise 8i anti-virus with spyware option used along with Webroot’s Spysweeper; and
3) For a system running behind a router using NAT, does ZA add much more protection?
