Without a doubt the best choice. Norton has listened to it's customers and vastly improved their product. Set it up, and forget it. It does it's job in the background, silenty, without you having to do a thing. No slowdowns (I use it on a gaming machine and you wouldn't even know it's there since it does not interfere with my computer's speed). The firewall is intelligent. It knows what is safe so you aren't bugged with question after question about what you want to let through. The updates are fast throughout the day and are done in the background. You can download parental controls and anti-spam if you should need them and they are included free. I wouldn't trust my computer to anything else. Try it, you won't be sorry.

Just downloaded and installed this last night on my new Vista PC (sweet Dell laptop I got for college this year). Smooth install and seems to have a snappier feel than previous versions so far.

I have an ESET Smart Security license good through 5-2010. Needing a reformat of my Vista Ultimate system anyway, I had a look at this 2009 version of Norton. Onb a clean machine with a corrupt, unrepairable driver, I removes my ESET. Installed this, scanned full & it detected 9 viruses. Two in the registry & seven infected files. Needless to say, this is foolish. I reformatted, installed the same programs & added the exact same data, scanned with ESET & its as clean as a whistle. This is completely unacceptable & for this reason I will not recommend this product.

People!!! stop rating this product poorly!!!! I am personally an ESET fanboy and was a Kaspersky maniac!!! But after using this product, trust me!!!! Symantec have overridden the tag of bloatware from their software!!! and about scan speeds? it's faster than nod!! to state my point, read reports on av detection rates from av-comparatives.org! My pc is an E8400 C2D with 2GB of RAM with Vista Ultimate 32bit ! and Kaspersky slowed it when it performed a start up or full pc scan!!! couldn't play any games when kaspersky was scanning in the background!!! I was surprised to find out that Norton could handle the situation! very well!! and about Eset?? they are awesome too, with very few false positives compared to Norton, but Norton again got higher detection rates according to av-comparatives.org !! I am very pleased on dumping KIS 2009 for NIS2009!! It feels sad that i had to switch from Kaspersky (used 7yrs) to Norton !! I hated Norton a lot!! Now, everyone, rethink about it!

I am using Norton Internet Security 2009 on Verizon FIOS Internet. I replaced Verizon's Internet Security software and Norton runs considerably faster especially at start-up. It is also cheaper than Verizon's $6/mo cost at least at Amazon price. It loaded quickly and easily and updates quite frequently without putting any visible drag on the system. I recently switched from Comcast and Norton is also much faster than the free McAfee that Comcast provides. If I were still on Comcast I would pay for Norton rather than use the free McAfee knowing what I know now. I have been using Norton for 2 weeks and have not had any security breaches as yet.

Decent product - Norton Internet Security 2009. I think the pulsing updates might be messing up my speakers when I play music. Not sure yet.

Installing Norton Internet Security has always been one of the least favorite things to do. I have stayed with Norton because of its preformance. This year upon installing with a CD all I got was a window wanting to install or modify Dell Support 3.2; then nothing. Upon contact with Norton support they recomended that I just use the 2009 product code on my existing 2008 NIS; they told me the two products are the same. As for the install problem they said to call Dell. Dell now charges for support. I wonder what Norton will tell me next year if I stick with their product?
I thought I would try a second time uninstalling Dell Support 3.2; did so but the same window pops up. Anyone have a solution? I have installed Norton IS each of the three previous years I have had this computer.

I bought the product because 'Explorer' kept getting infected with some type of viruses or worm which affected my PC. Have several knowledgeable friends recommend the product. It was very easy to install. It's only been 2 weeks since I installed it and it already warned me about a possible attempt to affect the system. So far - so good. I'm very satisfied, as are my friends with theirs.

I've had this product along with Norton for many years and will not switch. But there are always improvements to be made...like a program uninstaller they had a few years ago, and when you click on the link to see what files you have just saved, why does it take so long?

My little sister had Norton installed on her brand new laptop. When browsing the web , she will encounter an annoyance of 'Connection Interrupted' on her browser. And the space it takes in the Hard Drive is more than 100MB+. Norton doesn't slow my sister's 1.8GHz with 2.0GB of RAM machine , but the protection it gives isn't efficient , full of false positives , too much Hard Drive space taken , and its not worth the cash. Other internet security suites doesn't take up much space in your Hard Disk. I wouldn't recommend this product at all. You may look up other products as Norton didn't quite did a great job. Detection rate is decent , firewall is average , and it still needs major improvement.

I was a Norton customer in years past and went away from it because it slowed down my computers so much. But i decided to give this years version a try and boy was i surprised. It doesn't slow my computer down at all runs in the background quietly and updates constantly so u know your always up to date. Give this a try i don't think u will be dissapointed. I went ahead and purchased this after the trial . very impressed with it. give it a shot.

Not very happy that I uninstalled my Mcafee that expired yesterday to try this. Now I have no AV protection. Going to have to download zonealarm and avg as a temp fix.

I've used Norton products for years, and I've tried many others. This is the first time that I've used one (since Vista came out) that doesn't have a negative impact on my computers performance. It has a great learning feature wherein it recognizes virus free programs and then doesn't scan them every time they run. I think this is one of the reasons the software works so well. Congratulations to Symantec.

I have spent hours trying to install this software. Norton's online help is impossible to contact. I couldn't get a phone number so I settled for online chat. After wading through a multi-step process I got nowhere. I'm sending it back for a refund. Even though it may be effective when installed it is worthless if you cannot install it.

NIS09 is getting rave reviews compared to other internet security packages... as it should. the 2009 version is even better than 2008. The biggest gripe in past has been the hogging of computer resources. this is no longer the case. in fact, when you open up NIS 2009 window, it gives you two meters... one showing computer CPU usage, and the other showing NIS CPU usage, because they want YOU, the user, to be confident that the resource hogging issue has been improved

I purchased Norton Internet Security 2009 in December 2008. I have been using it for about 2 months and I am much happier with this edition than I was with the 2008 edition. I completely deleted the 2008 version before installing the 2009 version. My computer works much faster and so far I have had no problems.

Product is extremely easy to install and use ... Does not appear to be a resource hog ... Is not overly intrusive with alerts. My rating of (4) is conservative and based not on any dissatifaction, but on my limited computer knowledge. I'm sure GURU's can always find some issues not to their liking. For me, at this point in time, the product meets my expectations and am very pleased.

I was going to renew my subscription before I found out how greedy they have become! I am in an area that was hit by the ice storm so my subscription ran out during that time. When I got power back, lo and behold, my computer was unprotected. Couldn't even protect with the virus definitions I had already paid for! I will not be giving Norton another dime of my money.

I seem to get bombarded with malware but norton blocks it all and if not quarantines it!I recomend norton for anyone who uses the internet (It sure is a massive improvment from the riginal norton)
