Norton Ghost 14 is a great backup tool that offers lots of potential for scheduling different types (files or full system; local or off-site) of automated backups. It is simple to use, yet offers every conceivable option one could need. As a bonus, it offers its famous 'ghosting' ability to copy full hard drives accross, e.g. when moving to a new PC or upgrading a hard drive. An older Ghost saved me from the effects of a complete HDD crash, and since then I am hooked on Ghost. V14 is the same good product, but even better. GET IT, or face the consequences one day!

I'm afraid that Norton Gost 10, the program I use on my older Windows XP computer, is much easier to use...much more user friendly.

I must say that being a senior grandmother of 6 grandchildren I feel very secure communicating with my grandchildren, not to mention my own children using Norton. Norton Ghost 14.0 was very easy to install and perform a image backup with. I picked Norton Ghost because of years of flawless performance from the product. Many backup programs make back up files, but recovery is some times a mistery. Not with Norton Ghost.

I bought Norton Ghost 14 to use to migrate my Thinkpad T60 to a larger hard drive. I spent all day trying, only to learn that this product won't do that! I ended up just downloading a free product, HDClone, and it worked perfectly. If you want to do routine backups, you can buy Ghost. If you need to clone a hard-drive with hidden partitions, look elsewhere.

This product failed miserably when installed on my PC running XP Pro. Running LiveUpdate failed and caused the program to stop running (I had to repair the installation using the install disk). Once "running", an attempt to back up my hard drive to a DVD-ROM set also failed. Needless to say I'm returning the product and will look for another backup program.

Benn using Norton Ghost for many years. It has rescued me form many a bad download and also after making an application change or a file update that brought my computer just about to its knees. Its always running and takes very little time to run in the avent that a critical flaw or bad download had altered a bit too much and stopped a normal POST or boot function. In my case it saved a bunhl of reloads.

I've been a Norton user for more than 10 years and had never experienced any issues other users reported until I came across Ghost 14. I upgraded from Ghost 12 to Ghost 14 six months ago and had been doing a drive backup every two weeks. Recently my laptop was stolen and when I try to do a restore, I found out certain files were missing from the every archive Ghost 14 created!!! During each backup session, Ghost 14 never gave any indication that some files were not backed up. Luckily the missing files were rarely changed and I was able to restore from the last Ghost 12 archive. Because of this, all my Ghost 14 backups made during the past six months are now questionable. I've no idea what other files Ghost 14 failed to include in the archive.

Norton Ghost 14.0...I did use Norton Ghost 10.0..I wanted the newer one. Norton Ghost 10.0 worked great...The new Norton Ghost 14.0 works really good too..When deleting the old ghost..do not forget liveupdate..I like to custom install ghost...I make independent ghost images...I backup to a large 500 GB external hard drive...Norton Ghost works great..I like to make independent ghost images and not incremental ghost images..I have Windows XP....and backup to a 500 GB external hard drive..I had trouble getting the external hard drive ready for the new software and had to partition and format the external hard drive..I had trouble..After partitioning and formating the external hard drive...everything turned out really great...I had been using two external hard drives to make backup images..Now I just use my 500 GB external hard drive..Norton Ghost 14.0 works great...

If your backup catalog is either locked or corrupt, there is no option but to perform a complete backup again. Symantec does not provide a tool to rebuild the catelog from a good backup that you have already created. Do not waste your time with this software. Purchase something where the backup and controls are in the backup device itself as anything that installs on your computer is at risk due to either Symantec software bugs or Microsoft software bugs.

Unlike the older version I have, Ver. 14 does not include the ability to clone a hard drive over a network.

I've used this product since it was Drive Image from PowerQuest. Beginning At Version 9, Symantec bought up the Drive Image code and repackaged as Ghost. The product is mature and works perfectly for me every time. Importantly, it is also useful for people who are blind and use screen readers to access Windows. I tried True Image 2009 from another manufacturer for it's claims of easy use but that product failed with my screen reader while Ghost worked well with the JAWS screen reader. I purchased this new version moving up from V9 to backup a VISTA computer which was not supported by my earlier version. The product has become even smarter and more smoothly integrated into the computer. Be sure to run the updater after installing as Symantec seems to make regular improvements to the code base

I've used Ghost for a few years. It usually works fine. I use off the shelf PCs and do not have any trouble restoring (luckily only once in all this time). Recently, I added Network Attached Storage (NAS) to my home network. Ghost 10 and 12 worked for a while then had problems doing incremental backups. This newest rev seems to have solved whatever the issues were as I have been doing incremental backups fine for a few months now.

First of all not everybody knows what Norton ghost 14 really does and how it works. Norton ghost is developed by symantec. Symentec is a corparation who developed some software like Norton Antivirus or backups. Norton Ghost is one of the famoust backup programs. With this program you can backup your files and all your data. You can burn it on a DVD if you want.

Symantec Ghost 14 seems to be a merge of features between Symantec's older Ghost product line with Symantec's disastrous "save and restore" product, which for some strange reason is still offered in version 2.0.You can see my reviews for Save and restore here on amazon to see why my copy ended up in the garbage can.I have been using ghost in its various incarnations for several years, when it used to run off a floppy drive, so i am very familiar with its capabilities. Symantec Ghost 14 can backup files or your entire computer's drives if so desired to another computer on a network or to a USB drive. It can do this on a schedule.The features of Ghost 14 on paper are impressive, so i decided to give it a test by installing the product on my laptop and creating a complete backup to a network drive on another computer. The entire backup was completed in less than 15 minutes. Then i decided to create an updated recovery disc for my laptop to do a full recovery, Ghost automatically recognized the fact that my original Recovery Disk had been burned to a rewriteable disc, and proceeded to erase and burn a new updated version on the same disc.. very impressive.

As usual Norton comes through with outstanding products, and Ghost 14 is in standing with that tradition. Works well with Fat 32, NTFS and on.., XP, Vista etc. Good Job Again. Thumbs Up.

Symantic bought Powerquest and all its software. When they got a hold of Drive Image they had to put their stamp all over it. When they finished, it was no longer the great little product it was. It was changed into a big, clumbersome and glitchy resourse hog.

Norton Ghost is another stellar Symantec product that works exactly as specified. It's the only product I know that can actually restore your entire computer system after a complete hard-drive crash!
Initially, I had some problems backing up my complete system to my Iomega USB drive. After using the technical support chat from their web site, they resolved the problem in matter of minutes.
For the record, the problem was with my USB drive set up and not with Norton Ghost.
You can never go wrong with Symantec. I have used their products for years and I always recommend them to all my friends.
